The initiative seeks to disseminate and demystify science and technology in schools. The great objective is to show children and adolescents that these two areas are essential parts of today’s world, in addition to contributing to scientific development in the country and awakening the creative and inventive side within each one.

What is Tec Educação?
TEC, Technologies and Creative Experiences, uses active learning to teach science and technology to elementary school students in the initial and final years. To achieve this goal, the project offers qualification and training for educators, teaching material for teachers and students and a kit of materials for carrying out experiments for the school semester.
At the end of the training, teachers are offered a certification. “We understand that many teachers are not experts in these areas [de ciência e tecnologia]That is why we offer online training with a certificate given by the experts who wrote our material ”, explains the executive manager of TEC Educação, Julia Moura.
In this way, educators become able to teach TEC classes and have an online monitoring of the team during the school year. The idea is for students to get their hands dirty in all classes so that they understand the importance of carrying out their own projects and understand that technology can be created and used in different ways.
“I believe that given the moment we are living in, people can more easily understand the importance of science and technology and why they are taught in schools” explains Julia Moura.
The manager also adds that “technology and science are advancing fast, breaking barriers and transforming the world where we live”. In this sense, TEC believes that it is inconceivable to think about the future without understanding that science and technology are essential elements for development.
How are TEC Educação classes?
TEC classes take place once a week and always in a hands-on style to develop cognitive and motor skills. The contents offered range from introduction to electronics and mechanics to programming language.
Each class is guided by its own curriculum in alignment with the National Curriculum Base. In each experience, students develop habits and explore different learning objectives in expanding their knowledge of technology and using the different tools offered for each class.
TEC is planned according to the educational binomial of content and form. The content is all the knowledge available and the form is the means by which this information is delivered. Both are fundamental to the teaching and learning of students, especially in an increasingly digital world.
When we talk about science and technology we are talking about areas that are not disseminated within schools. These are fields that people have little or no knowledge of and, in many cases, they are even a little afraid of.
“If you take a science book, you will find very complex words that can scare students. Now, if you write this concept in a simpler way, working with everyday examples and showing that everyone can do science and technology, you can attract the interest of your audience ”, explains Júlia Moura.
In class, students learn that technology is a tool for solving problems and that solutions can be everywhere and with the simplest materials. In this way, common materials used by students are used so that they understand the potential of each material they have in their hands, from a pencil to a paper straw.
In addition to this face-to-face program, Moura explains that they also launched the TEC program at home. “In this very challenging moment, we have 22,000 students at home, and we cannot leave them without TEC. For this reason, we launched TEC at home, with video classes talking about science and technology to change the way people see what is inside their own home ”, he says.
What are Eleva’s contributions to TEC Educação?
Eleva believes that science and technology are essential tools for students’ development and learning. For this reason, the institution is an investor in the TEC Educação project and helps to disseminate knowledge in more than 58 schools throughout Brazil.
The Eleva education system understands that the use of technology in education has come to reformulate traditional teaching methods and to seek greater student engagement. Science is presented from a different perspective so that it is understood as something that is part of the routine of each student and not something outside of their reality.
Therefore, Eleva believes that students should be an active part of the development of the tools of their future and not just users of technologies such as cell phones and computers. Once they are able to understand how tools are created and work, they are also able to recreate or reinvent them according to their particular needs or projects.
In TEC classes, students do scientific experiments and learn to build objects following the principles of electronics, mechanics and programming in their final years, in addition to adding essential knowledge for their professional future and the development of socio-emotional skills.
Eleva’s contributions to TEC Educação reflect the values that the educational system believes. Eleva, like Nelson Mandela, understands that “education is the most powerful weapon you can use to change the world”. For this reason, TEC Educação serves 22 thousand students in the network’s schools.
